Why Do We Do What We Do ?
Elder Care Transitions started from humble beginnings. The idea for Elder Care Transitions was born out of the love my Grandparents had for me, as shown in this photo of me with my Grandfather.
ECT isn't just an organization that offers services to Seniors moving from home to Retirement Home. The motivation for ECT began when I was just a baby; raised by my Grandparents, watching and learning from them, listening to their stories, hearing about our history, and soaking up all the wisdom they had to offer. It grew from the love they had for me, into the love I have for them. There is so much respect there. And all the Seniors we've had the honour of serving and helping along the way, I see them through these eyes, as though they are my family.
At Elder Care Transitions, we have built a team who shares the same passion and love for the Elderly, and together my dream as a little girl, to make a difference and give back the love I was given as a little girl by my Grandparents, has been able to flourish. Elder Care Transitions is now more than just an organization that assists Seniors with moving from home to Retirement Home. It's a vision inspired by my relationship with my Grandparents; services designed to serve a purpose beyond transitioning, with the ultimate goal to leave our clients feeling like they are cherished, honoured, and respected.

My very first interaction with Elder Care Transitions as a company was actually through my granny, Anne. When Granny had to move to a retirement home for health reasons, Talia was instrumental in helping me get through all of the hoops required in the process, and make sure Granny was as comfortable and stress-free as possible. I had never been close to Granny as a child, but spending so much time together working on her move meant that we were able to really get to know each other as adults. It was such a relief to be able to tell her that everything was taken care of, so she could focus on enjoying her life without stress.
Granny passed away recently, and I’m so grateful that Talia was able to give me that time to get to know her first. I found myself wanting to make a difference for others in the same way that Talia had for me, and so I asked her if she was hiring. Luckily for me, she was!
Helping seniors and their families deal with the transition from living on their own to living in a retirement home is more rewarding than I ever thought it would be, and it really is something that keeps on giving. Being able to connect with our clients and hear their stories and experiences gives me some of the same joy I felt doing the same with my grandmother, and I treasure all the things I learn during our time together.
We move people in to many of the same retirement homes, and it’s always a treat to run into former clients and get updated on their lives. At the end of the day, being able to see their smiles and relief as they are settled in to their new home gives me a sense of happiness that carries over in to everything I do, and I’m so glad to be a part of their experience.
